Surprise - new costume, and I didn't even take it to a convention yet!
I went out for a photoshoot today with
as a fellow cosplayer and
as our photographer; I was the makeup artist and photo editor, as well as one of the models.
As for this costume........
You guys. You guys may not even KNOW how much I love Howl's Moving Castle, now and forever. It is still my favorite book of all time, and I swear I find something new each time I read it. And while the Miyazaki movie isn't the book, it's still a beautiful, beautiful movie with beautiful character designs. I used to do a TON of Howl's Moving Castle costumes. It feels nice to come back to doing this again, especially since I've spent so long collecting reference and jewelry.
Jacket patterned and sewn by me. Shooting star quilting (that is not visible in this pattern) is a collaboration between me and Alethea Ballard of Maverick Quilts (look up her work, it's gorgeous!). Pants by H&M. Necklace, rings, and Calcifer are official mechandise. Earrings made by Haruna. Original shirt from my 2006 triangle coat Howl patterned by Hitori; 2012 version as worn here made by me based on Hitori's original pattern. Hideous shoes from eBay, seriously why does anybody even make those fugly things.
