Fanime and the rest of my 2012 schedule

Journal Entry: Wed May 23, 2012, 9:13 PM

Fanime 2012, I'll see you there!

I don't know when I'll ever find the time to catch up on dA (I want to cry when I think of how behind I am at replying to stuff) but partially it's been preparing for things like this!

I'm mostly going to be doing iDOLM@STER, with dashes of Steel Ball Run, Evangelion, and Touhou Project.

Catch me with Angel Hearts in the lobby at 8pm on Saturday night for a dance flashmob, on Sunday night in the masquerade, and if you guys can beat the checkout times to get there, at 1pm on Stage Zero with Angel Hearts for a half hour iDOLM@STER dance set! We've all been working really hard to get you something worthy of watching, so I hope those of you who like dancing and come to see it will be happy!

I almost had a new JoJo outfit to premiere, but it just wasn't working out fast enough and I wasn't happy with it, so I'm going to have to wait until AX to show you my Stone Ocean prisoner swag (or maybe a few teaser photos before AX, who knows?)

I'm also going to be appearing this year (confirmed) at Anime Expo, Otakon, San Japan, Animegacon, and Animeicon. I'll possibly be at SacAnime Summer and Yaoicon. This is more than likely my last year of being able to really travel to conventions and go to more than just three or so per year, so I'm really trying to make it count!

I LOVE your Makoto cosplay. Wanna try cosplaying Iori Minase for Phavorianne? Or Makoto in her Casual?

Um, do you think you might be able to draw up a pattern for the Johnny Joestar costume?
I'd really appreciate it.

I didn't actually use a pattern for any of it, but I can tell you how to duplicate what I did... I made the pants pattern by tracing a pair of clearance spandex pants from H&M (three dolla yay!) that I cut up, the shoes were extra pants spandex covering a pair of cheap shoes. I traced the shape of a hoodie that fit me well (extending the shoulders a bit) in the front and back, as well as its hood, and added seam allowance to make the pattern for the hoodie. The hat was trial and error made by tracing a beanie and adding darts at the top just like a regular beanie. The wristbands I had a friend tape paper around my forearms, we marked where they should begin and end, cut down the sides, and added seam allowance. You have to use stretch fabric for those or they won't fit on well! Here's a rough sketch of what the patterns I ended up with looked like. Lines of the same color are sewn together. The lines are shaky and the scale is distorted as fuck, but maybe this will help? [link]

Thanks a bunch.
Hopefully I'll be able to somehow draw out the patterns, and get the thing made (hopefully by May)

Which fabrics did you use for the whole costume?

The starry stuff was spandex which I painted the stars on from scratch; DO NOT DO THIS!!!! just find some star print spandex online. The white is some jersey t-shirt/sweatshirt knit material, and the red stripes are topstitched "casa crepe". A hint for sewing on stripes so they don't "bubble": It helps, a whole lot, if you baste the stripes on by hand before you stitch them down, or use heat-n-bond and then stitch. Stretch fabric likes to do exactly that: stretch! The shirt and wristbands are lined, and the pants are REALLY long and go down almost to my toes. I pull them down so I'm walking on the bottom of them, and then put on the matching fabric-covered shoes, and it looks like I have shoepants! The horseshoe on the front is just Super Sculpey painted.

Hello, I'm going to do a Gamzee Cosplay and since your Gamzee make up tutorial was prob the best I have yet to find I decided to come and ask you something regarding it.

I was wondering, for the makeup should I use a white creme foundation for the face?

(I'm not so great with makeup OTL, so that's prob why I get so confused with it LOL)

I prefer to do that, yeah! Even when I'm doing PAX on my body I prefer to use creme on my face as in the tutorial...

Sorry for the long wait for a reply! I had account issues OTL
